Since 1976, Waiss Al Bahar has established his practice
as a regional practice of architecture, urban, landscape,
and interior design in the current three studios:
Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and Damascus. Al Bahar Architects is contemporary in its approach to design, and strongly grounded in research, analysis, context, and an emphasis on planning and function.
Whatever the size or type, each project has a unique process. History, culture, climate, society, function, and environment all represent layers of complexity to be embedded in the final result.
Intellect loses its relationship with modernity when it loses
its ability to question without creating new ones. Then, these answers become information that need not be pondered. Design thought realizes modernity when it can deconstruct systems that tie together ideas, means, and ends.
It deconstructs to reconstruct; to recreate something more competent to answer our modern-day questions and pose new ones.
Modernity is the way to become contemporary. It brings forth novel, fresh ideas that respond to present day questions. Modern thought seeks to create works that surpass human imagination. Modernity aims to surprise
and bewilder.
